HUMAN RIGHTS AT HOME

Immediate Steps Obama Can Take to Mainstream Human Rights

By

The recently-released report by the Catherine Powell of the American Constitution Society for Law & Policy, "Human Rights at Home: A Domestic Policy Blueprint," provides concrete steps that the Obama administration should take NOW to ensure and protect human rights. Download it here: Human Rights at Home

The Guild can support this effort by calling upon the Obama administration to revitalize and reconstitute the Interagency Working Group on Human Rights through Executive Order 13107. In addition, the Blueprint recommends establishment of an independent monitoring agency in the form of a U.S. Commission on Civil and Human Rights.

For more information on Guild efforts to ensure ratification of human rights treaties, contact Susan Scott, co-chair of the Task Force on the Americas.
