Challenges of the Colombian Peace Process and the case of Simon Trinidad

Since the FARC- EP and the Colombian government signed a peace accord there continues to be terrible human rights abuses with targeted assassinations of human rights leaders. In fact, since November 2016 roughly 160 social and political leaders have been assassinated.

The United States continues to imprison Colombian political prisoner and peace-maker Simon Trinidad under very difficult conditions, while Colombian society he be returned to his country to help with reconciliation efforts.
