On May 26, 2022, Kerry McLean, international human rights lawyer and co-chair of the NLG International Committee, convened a virtual side event at the 2nd session of the UN Permanent Forum on People of African Descent, highlighting the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action.
At the 2001 World Conference Against Racism in Durban, South Africa a historic document was adopted by consensus. The Durban Declaration & Programme of Action (DDPA) is a comprehensive document that proposes concrete measures to combat racial discrimination. It addresses a wide range of issues, and contains recommendations that have the potential to have far-reaching impact. This program will explain key provisions of the DDPA, and share information about the drafting of the DDPA and current efforts by powerful nations to suppress the document.
